
Louie was born June 17, 1909 in Bitola, Yugoslavia. He had three brothers and one sister. He first came from Macedonia in 1919 when he was 9 years old. He grew up on a farm in Miles City, Montana. The family had a saw mill and raised vegetables. Louie worked at a Casino, as a taxi driver and he went to school to learn watch making. He was hired by Katz Drug Store because he was a master at fixing railroad watches. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and was a Corporal in the 56th Trucking Company during WWII. After going overseas he was honorably discharged in 1945. He received his naturalization papers in 1942 while serving his country. He married Ira Jane Herridge in March of 1949.They had six children. Louie and Ira Jane were married 51 years until her passing in 2000.
Louie is survived by his children, John Ristoff, Florence Johnson, Bette Cantrell, Virginia Koontz, Jimbo Ristoff and Jeanette Powell; his brother, Jimmy Ristoff, eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31 at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery.
