

Dr. Louis C Manuel received his early education on the Cleveland Ohio school system. Upon completing the requirements necessary for the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry at Bowling Green, Ohio, he went on to obtain his Doctor Of Medicine Degree at Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee in 1965. He then served a one year internship at Homer G.Phillips Hospital in St.Louis, Missouri.
His training was interrupted by a call to military service, where he was commissioned a captain in the Medical Corps and served one year in Vietnam as a Battalion Surgeon in the Ninth Infantry. For this tour , he awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Medical Services Combat Citation. The military assignment was completed as the Assistant chief of the Medical Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.
In 1968, Dr. Manuel returned to St. Louis to pursue a three-year residency in Ophthalmology at Homer G. Philips. Under this program he spent one year as a Fellow in Ophthalmology at the Washington University School of Medicine, rotating through the eye clinics of both Barns and Lutheran Hospitals in this capacity. Dr. Manuel then moved to Kansas City , establishing the private practice in which he is currently engaged.
He retired in September 2018.
The Private Family and service held at Floral Hills and he rest in peace in the Columbarium at Floral Hills Cemetery.
