

Louis J. Rauber, known among friends as “Ty”, resided in the Kansas City metro area beginning in 1972 and passed away on June 30, 2013 from heart failure and renal failure. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral mass. Private family burial service in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO, will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to Boys Town, 13940 Gutowski Rd., Boys Town, NE 68010 or to the charity of one’s choice.
Ty was born on February 12, 1936, in Kansas City, MO. In 1940 he and his parents relocated to Washington, D.C. where he attended parochial schools. He was a 1953 graduate of Georgetown Prep. In 1957 he graduated from Villanova University, Villanova, PA with a BS degree in economics. During 1957-1958 Ty worked for the National Bank of Washington. At the same time he was an assistant football coach at Gonzaga High School and was enrolled in the evening division of the Georgetown University law school.
In 1959 Ty began his career in government as a Special Agent with the Investigations Division of the Office of Naval Intelligence. Station assignments were in the United States and overseas. For a lengthy period he was an affiliate of a Navy communications gathering organization which functioned under the direction of the National Security Agency and other elements of the U.S. Government.
In 1972 Ty joined the Kansas City Regional Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and remained there until 1986 when he retired as Regional Inspector General for investigative matters.
In 1986 Ty joined the administrative staff of the Kansas City law firm of Gage and Tucker (now Lathrop and Gage). He remained there until 1992 when he again retired.
During the 1970’s Ty coached football at St. John Francis Regis grade school in Kansas City. He also coached baseball in the Kansas City area. He was a lifelong sports fan and closely followed a number of teams including the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals.
Survivors include a son, Kevin P. Rauber (Lori), St. Louis, MO and three daughters; Catherine Rauber, Raytown, MO, Joan M. Ross (Pat), Lee’s Summit, MO, Jeannette Winningham, Wichita, KS, as well as 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Patrick Rauber (Barbara), Eugene, Oregon and by two nephews.
