Lucile Davenport Dickey

Lucile Davenport Dickey, age 100, of Tonganoxie, KS, passed away May 14, 2019, at Hillside Village of De Soto, KS.

Lucile was born January 9, 1919, in Devon, KS to Thomas and Gertie Davenport. She moved to Kansas City, MO, after her marriage to the love of her life, Mr. Roy F. Dickey, to this union, one son was born.

Lucile and her husband served for many years as officers for the KCMO Police Department. She was one of the first female officers and retired after 34 years. She moved to Tonganoxie after retirement to be near her family. Lucile truly loved her family and enjoyed special friendships wherever she went.

She enjoyed all kinds of sewing and crafting and was very talented, winning blue ribbons for her quilting. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star and belonged to the Edwardsville Kansas Christian Church.

Lucile is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother Ralph Davenport.

Left to cherish her memory: her son, James Dickey (Carole), of Basehor, KS; grandchildren, Steven Dickey (Gwen Breuer), of Nashville, TN, and Susan Putman (Mark), of Basehor, KS; great-grandchildren, Paige Hiss (Caleb), of Denver, CO, Hanna Dickey, of Fayetteville, AR, and Corbin Putman, of Basehor, KS and other loving family and friends.

Lucile was a very sweet and beautiful person. I knew her because she would come out on to play bingo on Wednesday nights at Hillside. She was always smiling and happy, especially when she won. My prayers go out for her and to her family. She will be dearly missed!
