Lucille M. Logsdon

Lucille was born December 26, 1939 in Quincy, IL to Andrew Talken and Marie (Ohnemus) Talken.

She graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School and delighted in attending class reunions over the subsequent 50+ years. She graduated from Quincy College in 1962. After graduating from college, she worked as a medical technologist prior to starting her family. After her son was raised, she worked as a medical technologist at George King Bio-Medical, Inc until she retired.

On February 12, 1963, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Thomas Logsdon. They had a loving, devoted marriage that spanned 56 years, until Ken passed away in 2019. Together, they built a family based upon faith, love, and resilience. They had one child, Mark.

Throughout her life, she maintained a passion for athletics and the friendships that came from them. In particular, she enjoyed tennis, playing into her mid 70’s. She was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, and she never hesitated to offer either team advice through the television.

The themes of Lucille's life that rise to the top are her giving nature - always focused on taking care of everyone else - and her essential goodness and honesty; her strength and tenacity that allowed her to overcome so much in her life; and her ability to be present and delight in the simple things in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Margie (Talken) Buckman, and her brother-in-law, Martin Buckman.

Her Catholic faith and dedication to family provided the foundation for her life. She was a longtime member of the Church of St. Ann, Prairie Village, KS. For the last 20+ years, she was a member of the Church of the Nativity, Leawood, KS.

A Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at McGilley Funeral Home at 9:45 AM, with funeral to follow at 11:00 AM. The family suggests contributions to Nativity Catholic Church or St. Luke’s Hospice House in lieu of flowers.
