

Luz Jimenez Nava, 88 of Westwood, KS died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Guardian Angels Church, 1310 Westport Road. Inurnment will be in Forest Hill\Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Guardian Angels Church, 1310 Westport Rd Kansas City, MO 64111 or Catholic Charities of Kansas City, 20 W 9th St, Kansas City, MO 64105.
Luz was born June 26, 1926 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico to Juan and Josefina (Mendoza) Jimenez. She was the eldest of six children. Upon completing her education, Luz worked as a bookkeeper. She met the love of her life, Jose Trinidad Nava, in 1946. Following a long courtship, they were married on April 19, 1952. In September, 1962, Luz and Jose moved with their young daughters to the United States and made their new home in Kansas City, MO. They were blessed with their sixth daughter in August, 1964.
Luz was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, and travel. Luz traveled to Europe several times with her husband. Her most memorable trip was the visit to Rome and the Vatican. Luz also made numerous trips to the beautiful beaches of Mexico and enjoyed several unforgettable cruises with her husband.
Luz was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary daily. The greatest loves in her life were her family and her faith in God our Holy Father. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose, in 2006 and by her dear daughter, Miriam, in 2012
Luz is survived by her devoted daughters, Luz Gomez (Sal), Laura Alanis (Tony), Beatriz Nava Nance (Jim), Maria Justus (Frank) and Gabriela Wise; wonderful grandchildren, Miriam, Michael, Melissa, Cristina, Alexander, Frank, Nolan, Nicholas, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Julian and Josephine; sisters, Maria Guadalupe Jimenez and Guillermina Rivera; brother, Mario Jimenez, all of Guadalajara and by many nieces and nephews.
