Lyle Edwin Blakeley Jr age 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Gladstone, Missouri, on March 27, 2026. A man of gentle kindness and a constant smile, Lyle left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Lyle was born on June 4, 1945, at St. Mary’s in Kansas City, Missouri. As an only child, he remained deeply devoted to his parents, Lyle Edwin Blakeley Sr. and Lorena Jane Metzdorf, who shared 51 years of marriage.
Lyle found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a long-time member of Faubion United Methodist Church and spent many happy hours reading or watching old westerns. His greatest companion, however, was his beloved dog, Abby Blakeley. Abby was truly his world, and they shared a bond that was evident to all.
For many years, Lyle was a cherished member of the Creative Supports of Kansas City community. The staff and supporting agency members became his extended family, and he built deep, meaningful relationships that enriched his life and the lives of those who cared for him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lyle Sr., and his mother, Lorena.
