

Madonna C. Douglass, 87, Prairie Village, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by her five loving daughters, November 21, 2012, at Somerset Health Center. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, at The Village Presbyterian Church. Madonna was born January 26, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri to Richard W. and Madonna M. Cannon. She attended Kansas State University and completed her degree in Fashion Merchandising from Washington University in St. Louis in 1947. Upon graduation, she worked in the Bridal Department of Harzfelds on the Country Club Plaza. Madonna married the love of her life, Dr. E. Warner “Doug” Douglass, DDS on April 9, 1949. Together they shared 50 joyous years raising their five daughters, hosting family and friends and enjoying their grandchildren. Madonna was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, P.E.O. Chapter EX, The Carriage Club, St. Luke’s Auxiliary, Conservative Capitalists Investment Club, the “Jaw” Group and The Village Presbyterian Church. Madonna will forever be remembered for her kindness, generous spirit, beautiful smile, love for Douglass Blue and chatting on the phone; but, most of all, for her love of her husband, her daughters and their families and all her wonderful friends. Celebrating the life of Madonna are her daughters and sons-in-law: Madonna Cynthia Douglass and Mark Yachmetz, Debbie Douglass Sauer and Bob Knutson, Barbi and Bob Dalton, Laurie and Ron Barnds, Patti and Robert Riley. Her seven grandchildren: Charlie (Andrea), Reeves, Casey (Martin), Kurt, Brandon (Annaria), Brittany, Corbin; Kelsey, Connor and her great granddaughter, Anna. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband and two brothers. Thanks to the kind and loving care provided to our Mom by the caring staff of Somerset Health Care, Claridge Court and Grace Hospice Care.
