Marcella Mae Ronsick of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026 at the age of 102. She was born on September 15, 1924, in Sedalia, MO, to Virgil and Freda (Swift) Clough. Marcella grew up in the Waldo area of Kansas City, attending Ruhl-Hartman High School. She met Bill Ronsick while working together at a local insurance company and they were married on March 21, 1947. Together, they owned and operated Midwest Insurance Service, an independent insurance agency, for many years. Bill and Marcella played golf, hosted bridge and gin rummy clubs, were very involved in their church, and were well-loved by many friends and family.
She is survived by daughter, Karen (Steven) Benscoter, son, Chad (Nancy) Ronsick, one nephew, two nieces, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and good friend, Martha Welch. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary, in 1992, husband, Bill, in 2012, and niece, Michelle, in 2026.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Advanced Hospice for their care of Marcella in the weeks before her passing and to Martha Welch for all that she has done for Marcella over the years.
Services are planned for Thursday, October 29 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 1:30 pm in Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS.
