

Peggy was a constant source of never-ending love and support to all she knew, and lived a life full of laughter and spirit. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was born Margaret Ann Stephan in Kansas City, Missouri on January 3, 1935. She graduated from Lillis High School in 1951 and attended Avila College and Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Hornbeck and Clarence (Steve) Stephan; husband, Robert R. Callegari, husband, Richard L. Wicker and brother Joseph Stephan. She is survived by: Sons: Mark Callegari (Kathy) of Overland Park, Christopher Callegari (Lori) of Leawood, and Andy Callegari (Patricia) of Olathe; and her seven Grandchildren, Nick Callegari, Bobby Callegari (Nicole), Courtney Callegari, Matthew Callegari, Michelle Callegari, Melina Callegari and Holly Callegari and dear friends Peggy Allin and Leon Gaschen, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by brother Dan Hornbeck (Pat), sister Susan Geiger (Gus), and brother Bill Hornbeck Jr. (Rosemary).
Peggy was a lifelong-learner taking dozens of classes at Johnson County Community College throughout her life. She was continually attending some kind of exercise, work-out or dance class; encouraging friends and family to join her in everything from Tai-Chi to Ethnic Dancing to Yoga. For years at Christmas time she hosted all the grandchildren for a cookie baking and decorating party. Peggy volunteered time at Turnstyles and at St. Joseph Hospital and was a member of Ladies of Charity. She was a member of St. Thomas More church for over 20 years; and a life time member of their Ladies Bowling League. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with new friends in a rotating dinner group.
The family would like to thank the many caring nurses and Sister Margarita-Sister Servants of Mary for all their kind and gentle care.
A time of remembrance will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17th at McGilley’s State Line Chapel with a rosary beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am on Thursday, June 18th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
