Margaret Cierpiot

Margaret Catherine Cierpiot, 87, Gladstone, MO, at the time of her death on June 12, 2012 was surrounded by her family.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 15th at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit from 6-8 PM Thursday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Survivors include her 6 children Peggy (Terry) Weston, Whitney, TX, Barbara Cierpiot, Gladstone, MO, Mike (Connie) Cierpiot, Lee’s Summit, MO, Gerry (Suzanna) Cierpiot, Kansas City, MO, Kathleen (Don) Kleyh, Pleasant Hill, MO and Eric (Dawn) Cierpiot, Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, James Sopher, Blue Springs, MO, Rose Ann (Bill) Buchholz, Grays Lake, IL, Vincent (Kathleen) Sopher, Houston, TX and Kathy Sopher of the home.

Margaret was born September 11, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Ernest and Emma Sopher. In her youth she was a basketball and tennis star. And in her older years a champion Wii player. She was preceded in death by her parents. In 1976, her husband, Charles J. Cierpiot passed away and Margaret found herself at the age of 51 widowed with 2 young children. Following Charles passing, Margaret learned to drive and returned to work outside the home. She was a beloved mother and devout Catholic with membership in St. Andrew Parish and its Altar Society. Her greatest joy in life was her family.
