Margaret was born in Kansas City, MO on June 2nd, 1938 to Robert and Maurice Walden. Her older brother, Bob Walden, was 4 at the time and was happy to have a baby sister. Margaret attended Central High School in Kansas City and graduated in 1956. Her brother, Bob, and his wife Mary welcomed another baby boy in 1962 so Margaret moved to Milwaukee, WI to help out with her nephews. About 10 years later, Margaret was back in Kansas City and met her future husband, Robert T Gambill, who goes by Tom. Margaret and Tom got married on June 2nd, 1973, and lived happily together for 51.5 beautiful years in the Waldo area in Kansas City, MO.
Margaret was an excellent employee and hard worker. She worked for the Chiefs organization for a few years as a secretary and then moved to Black & Veatch Engineering firm where she worked for 34 years eventually becoming the executive secretary to the head of the company. She loved her job and often spoke of how the people at Black & Veatch were like family to her.
One of her favorite things to do was travel. Estes Park, CO became a favorite vacation destination for Tom and Margaret as they would make the trek every summer for many years. She loved showing the family pictures of all the wildlife they encountered each summer. Margaret also traveled with friends and family all over the world.
Early in her career, she joined EWI (Executive Women International) and was very involved with the group up until her passing. She often talked about the wonderful friendships she made over the years with EWI. Margaret was also a member of the Red Bridge Social Club often having lunch with her girlfriends.
Margaret was a breast cancer survivor. Not once, not twice, but three times she fought cancer and won. Helping others who were battling cancer was near and dear to her heart. She volunteered for many years driving patients to and from their chemotherapy appointments.
Margaret is preceded in death by her father Robert Walden, mother Maurice Walden, and brother Bob Walden. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Thomas Gambill, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and adoring friends.
Honoring Margaret's wishes, there will be a private family service.
