Margaret Marie Hall of Leawood, Kansas passed on Sunday, November 6th, 2016. Memorial service will be Sunday, November 13th, at 2 pm at The Leawood United Methodist Church, 2915 West 95th Street, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the L.U.M.C. Children’s Ministry.
Margaret was born July 27, 1918 in Clay Center, Kansas on a farm belonging to her parents Ina and Albert Kraettli.
In 1920 the family moved to Atchison, Kansas. Margaret attended public schools from kindergarten through high school. She then attended Mt. Saint Scholastica.
She was 3rd in line of siblings; Charlotte, Jack, Margaret and then Marvin.
In 1942 she attended St. Luke’s Nursing School. That year she met Kenneth Hall who was a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. They married April 18, 1942. They had two children Kay and David. Ken preceded Margaret in death on March 27, 1988.
Margaret was a founding member of the Leawood United Methodist Church, which started in 1956. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She lived in the same house in Leawood since 1956. As the children grew and moved on, she would walk early in the mornings for about a mile placing the Kansas City Times newspaper (back then the Kansas City Times was the morning paper and the Star was the evening paper) at the front door of her neighbors houses. She continued doing this for more than 40 years until her knees, at the age of 90, began to take their toll. The neighbors called her the “paper lady”.
Most of all, she was passionate about serving and talking about her Savior Jesus Christ. If you called her on the phone she would answer “Heaven High” just the opposite of “Hell low”. She was always whimsical in her thinking and approach to life. She has now graduated to be with her Savior Jesus Christ.
Arrangements under the direction of Mt Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
