

Margarete M. “Gretel” Zinser, 89, died peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2017 in her Ballwin, MO home. She was born on April 4, 1928 in a small town in Bavaria, Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Walter Zinser and lived more than 60 years in the Raytown area.
Gretel was a long time dedicated member of the German-American Club of Kansas City, particularly enjoying singing with her friends in the Liederkranz Gruppe. She prided herself in being able to create delightful German cuisine for family and friends. A charter member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, she happily served in their Altar Society.
Survivors include her son Eric (Linda) Zinser of Kansas City, MO and daughter Mary Ann (Rich) Scheerer of Chesterfield, MO along with grandchildren Daniel (Bri) Zinser, Michael and Jonathan Zinser, Chris (Nicki) Scheerer, Brian, Monica and Karla Scheerer and grandson, Theodore Scheerer. She never forgot her roots, and will also be greatly missed by her extended family in Germany.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr, Kansas City, MO 64133. The Rosary will be prayed at 5pm, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the church, followed by visitation until 7pm.
