Maria was born June 6, 1933 in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico to Maria Cedillo Vasquez and José Cedillo Garcia. She grew up in a large, loving family where helping others was a family virtue. In 1960 she married Robert E. Lopez and moved to Kansas City, MO. She became a stay-at-home mom and tended to her loving children and husband.
Her passion was gardening and making delicious meals for her family and friends. In her latter years, her two grandchildren were her main focus and joy of her life.
She is survived by her children, Mary H. Lopez and Elizabeth Lopez-Blas (Josue Blas); and her grandchildren, Robert E. Blas and Becky E. Blas. She was predeceased by her husband.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with Rosary at 7:30 pm, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2544 Madison Avenue, Kansas City, MO. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, 2201 Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City, MO immediately following Mass.
