

Maria A. Sloan 98 years old of Raytown, Missouri passed away peacefully December 30, 2020 at Hidden lake Care Center in Raytown, Missouri. She was born July 23,1922 in the Provincia Di Venezia a metropolitan city of Venice, Italy. When she was 6 years old, she traveled with her mother Julia Giaccetti and her brother Galeo to America to join her father John Giaccetti in Hartville, Wyoming a small town 100 miles north of Cheyenne. Her father had come to America ahead of them to find a job and home. Maria grew up in Hartville. After she graduated from high school, she met Vernon P. Sloan while working in Cheyenne, Wyoming and they were married in Kimball, Nebraska February 13, 1943. After Vernon finished his service in the army, they started a family and had 3 children. Maria had several jobs during her lifetime but the one she spent the most time with was the Civil Service/IRS which she retired with 25 years’ service August 1990. Maria was always involved throughout her life attending church and helping with church activities. She loved Jesus and spent a lot of time praying for other people. She also enjoyed bowling, tennis, church fund raisers, and her grandchildren. Maria is proceeded in death by her father John Giaccetti, mother Julia Giaccetti, sister Gina Leslie, brother Galeo Giaccetti, and son Victor P. Sloan. She is survived by her son Vincent J. Sloan, daughter-in-law Tanya Stefanidis, daughter Mary Boyce, son-in law Craig Boyce, 5 grandchildren Jana Woods, Kyle Boyce and wife Adrian, Shawn Boyce and wife Colleen, Victor J. Sloan and Jason Sloan. She also has 10 great grandchildren. A small gathering/blessing for the immediate family was held January 4, 2021. She will be missed by all her family who loved her very much.
