

Marilyn Alice Jacobs Gronberg came into this world on Jan. 22nd, 1939. She was the only child of Mary Hyde Jacobs and Loren Earl Jacobs. She graduated from Paseo High School and also attended UMKC. She married Richard Ragnar Gronberg on Nov. 7th, 1958. Richard preceded Marilyn in death in 2010.
Marilyn was a member of Church of the Resurrection, where she was part of the communion team. She was a member of several organizations throughout the Kansas City community, serving as President of the PTA at Roeland Park Elementary School and Katherine Carpenter Elementary School. She was a member of masonic organizations, such as International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, The Grand Cross of Color and The Order of the Eastern Star (Past Matron). She was also involved in The International Service Organization for Young Women and Beta Sigma Phi. Marilyn was President of the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, served on the board of Friends Mercy for Children's Mercy Hospital, was a member of the Red Hat Society and participated in a cooking club that has been meeting monthly for 30 years. She was the manager of the "Beehive" shop at Silvercrest Retirement Community, where she had been recently residing. She took great pride in this role and she was involved in several committees at Silvercest, as well.
Marilyn is survived by children, Cheryl and Tim Speed, Steve and Marie Gronberg; grandchildren, Sara and Chris Poskey, Nick Speed and Jaime Blum, Vincent and Dominic Gronberg; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Layla Poskey; and many friends and loved ones.
Marilyn loved to be surrounded by people and cared deeply for her family and friends. She will be remembered for having an infectious laugh and wonderful spirit. She will be greatly missed by all.
