

Marion Goodwin was a beloved Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on February 21, 1922 and died at Claridge Court Care Center on September 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. Her parents were Lillian Fritz Morris and Samuel Lindsay Morris. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University where she belonged to honoraries Cwens and Mortar Board.
She married classmate, Lt. Earl J. Callender in 1944. Earl was a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps and his bomber was shot down over Tokyo in WWII. In 1946 Marion married Captain Eugene E. Goodwin. Gene was in the Signal Corps and served in the European Theater for four years in WWII. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage and raised three daughters, Lynn, Susan and Janice of whom they were very proud. The family lived in Pittsburgh, Denver and St. Louis, as well as Kansas City.
Marion was a strong supporter of the Girl Scouts and was a leader several times. They joined the Village Presbyterian Church in 1951 and served as Deacons. Marion was honored with a life-time membership in Presbyterian Women and served on the Board. She volunteered for 11 years at the Village Church Food Pantry. Marion was a 60 year member and past Regent of the Tomahawk Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her children Lynn and Dr. Gerald Gentry, Sue and Dr. Chris Cox, and Jan and Todd Bleakley; grandchildren Greg and Dr. Melanie Gentry, Lara and Sean Simms, Lindsay and Bryan Behgam, Adam and Allison Cox, Abby and Brandon Sifers, Kristen Bleakley, and Lauren Bleakley and fiancé Taylor Anthony; and great-grandchildren Malcolm, Isabel and Sydney, Tyler and Logan, Russell, Katie and Jonathan, and Trevor, Madeleine, Anna and Caroline.
A memorial service will be held at the Village Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30. Memorial gifts may be made to the Village Church Memorial Fund, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208
