

Marjorie Cole, Leawood, Kansas was born August 5, 1930 to R.M. Cole Jr. and Oka French Cole in Jamesport, Missouri. She resided there until 1937 when the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Benton Elementary, Central High School and Kansas City Jr. College. She married her high school sweetheart, James R. Hammond, in 1951. To this union were born Robert Cole Hammond and John Paul Hammond. She is survived by these two sons along with grandsons Robert Cole Hammond II and James Blake Hammond. Marge was active in the Johnson County Young Matrons and TLC of Olathe, Kansas. Marge was a former member of the Blue Hills Country Club. James and Marge moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1994 and returned to Kansas City in 2004 to be with family and friends. She was a former member of the Village Presbyterian Church on returning from Phoenix joined the Church of the Resurrection Methodist Church. Marge died August 31, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House from a series of strokes and Parkinson’s disease. Marge will be remembered as a kind and generous person and friend to many. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Interment in Mt.
