Marjorie Mae Bowman Lasley

Marjorie Mae Lasley of Merriam, Kansas, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri died February 15, 2012 at Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 92. Born on March 23, 1919 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Marjorie was the oldest daughter of Eula May (King) and Clive Bowman. She grew up and attended school in Polo, Missouri. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri and worked several years at Kansas City Life Insurance Company. On December 26, 1956 she married Mearl Edwin Lasley at Calvary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. They were married for 45 years. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri where Mearl was in construction and a Pastor. Marjorie was a stay-at-home Mom and helped her daughter with school and her husband with his career. She was a devoted mother and loving wife. She loved baking, gardening, helping others and was a very talented artist. Marjorie is survived by her two daughters Barbara Fliss of Edwardsville, Kansas and Bonnie Harker of Memphis, Tennessee; one sister Phyllis Preisler and her husband Fred Preisler of Overland Park, Kansas; four brothers Kenneth Bowman and his wife Wilma Bowman of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Gary Bowman and his wife Dixie Bowman of Liberty, Missouri, Donald Bowman and his wife Marilyn Bowman of Smithville, Missouri, and Bob Bowman and wife Betty Bowman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister-in-law Sue Bowman of Chillicothe, Missouri; one brother-in-law Bill Zwygart of Cowgill, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Howard and Frank Bowman, two sisters Ruth Zwygart and Florence Rivera, her grandson Tyson Thomas Fliss, and her husband Mearl Lasley who passed away in 2001. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 23, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
