Marjorie Carol Sade (Messick), 86, of Kansas City, MO departed this life on Sunday, October 25th, 2020 in Lexington, MO. Born on March 30th,1934, daughter of Margaret Jewell Messick (Duncan) of Eldorado Springs, MO; born September 17th,1900 and Lon Jack Messick of Nevada, MO; born December 22nd,1896.
Marjorie was a passionate Union Steward for decades, working for a myriad of Kansas City companies: Bendix, Wilcox Electric, Southwestern Bell, and Western Electric (AT&T), until her transition to General Services Administration. Marjorie was the recipient of high accolade and numerous Commendable Service Awards for her accomplishments at GSA, where she remained until her retirement in 1996.
Marjorie loved working at the Mid-Continent Public Library (Blue Ridge branch) in retirement along with expanding her Christian faith and fellowship at the Church of Christ in Raytown, MO, where she was an active member of the food pantry and bible study. Marjorie couldn’t go anywhere without seeing a familiar face, and striking conversation with each reunited acquaintance along the way. She enjoyed gardening, listening to country music, butterfly and bird watching, along with being an avid reader. She relished in fine desserts and time spent with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her two siblings: Richard (Rose) Messick, and Betty Rutherford, three children: Charles (Laurie) Sade, Karen (Daniel) Martin, Anthony (Janette) Sade. Seven grandchildren: Rebecca (Joshua) Richcreek, Kyle (Skylar) Martin, Rachel (Kevin) Ellison, Joshua Martin, Ryan Sade, Kathryn Sade, Suzanne Sade. Seven great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Emmaline, Rhett Richcreek, Liam, Aiden, Cohen Martin, Lillyan Bailey.
She is also preceded in death by her eight siblings: Norma Porter, Dorris Bowers, Alice Weaver, Jim Messick, Lon Messick, Joe Messick, Kenneth Messick, Robert Messick, as well as her two sons: Thomas Sade and Jeffrey Scott Sade.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 2nd at 1pm, followed by a Service at 2pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd.) Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Research at act.alz.org or Breast Cancer Research Foundation at bcrf.org.
