

Marsha Y. West, age 98, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away June 27, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a short illness. Born January 12, 1914 in Hastings, Massachusetts to Marshall and Stella Yadon. She moved to Delavan, Wisconsin and graduated from Delavan High School and attended Moore’s Business College in Racine, Wisconsin. Later she moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She had an early career as a stenographer-receptionist. Marsha married William M. West in 1938 and changed her career to homemaker and mother, raising their two sons, W. Douglass and Michael. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William, son Douglass, sisters Carol and Barbara who died in their childhood, sister Doris Wilear of Delavan, Wisconsin, and brother Douglass Yadon who died in World War II. She is survived by son Michael West of Kansas City, Missouri, brother Gordon Yadon of Delavan, Wisconsin and many nephews and nieces. Marsha was truly a special lady. Kind, gentle, great sense of humor and without a mean word to anyone, she enjoyed a long and happy life. She was a longtime member of the South-Broadland Presbyterian Church and was active in Keystone Class and Presbyterian Women. Marsha felt especially lucky to live out her final years with son, Michael, whom she referred to as the greatest son and caretaker any mother could have. She was very fortunate to have remained mentally alert her entire life and enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, crafts, and doing crosswords, and other word puzzles. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
