He attended Hogan High School and graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City. After high school, Denny joined the United States Air Force, in which he served honorably for 4 years. He was also an Eagle Scout in the BSA, and proud of receiving that honor. He still had his Boy Scout uniform, and would show it to young boys to encourage them to join the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Denny owned a successful window cleaning business for 40 years. Denny and his wife, Veronica, enjoyed many activities during their 47 years of marriage. This included their lake home and boat at the Lake of the Ozarks that they enjoyed every weekend. He would get up at the crack of dawn to go fishing. Denny and Veronica also traveled to many interesting places, and also wonderful cruises. It was a joy being with his daughter and son-in-law and his two grandchildren. Denny's main passion was bowling. He enjoyed bowling on a team with his brother Jerry. Denny and Veronica enjoyed attending many sporting events, KC Royals, KC Chiefs, KU basketball games, as well as numerous concerts. Denny was like a kid at amusement parks; when it came to roller coasters, he'd ride them all!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm O. Etter and Florence J. Etter and his brother Gerald Etter.
