One of ten children, Mary was the best Christmas gift anyone could ever hope to receive. She was born on December 24th, 1918 in Good Intent, KS, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Held) Hager. Mary was a full-time loving and caring mother and wife and a meticulous homemaker whose baked goods were coveted by all and best enjoyed while doing your best to try to beat her playing cards. Mary was a devout Catholic who relied on the power of prayer to guide her through her entire life ultimately delivering her into God’s welcoming arms with grace and dignity, void of fear.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Bowles, Sr.; son, Charles J. Bowles, Jr.; two grandsons: David Bowles, Sr. and Kenneth Bowles; five brothers: Jack, Ted, Adolph, Joe and Francis Hager; and four sisters: Amelia Lollar, Helen Spinner, Joan Durkin and Catherine Wheeler. She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Ron) King; her son, Wayne (Kristy) Bowles; 6 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Mary’s family sincerely thanks her many caregivers who brought her comfort, prompted her to sing and kept her smiling during the last many months.
