Mary J. Donaldson, 83, of North Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her longtime companion of 11 years, Ed Diaz, who was by her side in their home.
Mary was born on December 15, 1942, in Brockwell, Arkansas, to Elda and Orville Campbell. She graduated from Violet Hill High School in Violet Hill, Arkansas, in 1960.
Mary worked for many years in accounting and collections at Yellow Freight in Overland Park, Kansas, before retiring. She was known for her warm spirit, love of life, and the joy she found in spending time with the people she loved.
Mary enjoyed golfing and traveling, but some of her happiest times were spent Saturday nights dancing with her sisters, Brenda and Lee, and enjoying the company of her many friends. She cherished her family deeply and will be remembered for the love, laughter, and memories she shared with them.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Elda and Orville Campbell; her sister, Elinor; and her brother, Harlin Campbell.
She is survived by her companion, Ed Diaz of the home; her son, Steve Suarez, and his wife, Michelle; her grandson, Jared Suarez, all of Blue Springs, Missouri; her sisters, Brenda Inman of Lenexa, Kansas, and Lee Haws of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held on August 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
A graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral service at Blue Springs Cemetery, 2800 SW Walnut Street, Blue Springs, Missouri 64015.
Mary’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
