Mary Cristina Galvan

Mary is preceded in death by her father Rafael Ortega, mother Maria Refugio Hurtado-Ortega, sister Angelina Sendejas and brother Ralph Ortega Jr.

Mary leaves behind her husband David V. Galvan, sons Christopher Galvan (Veronica) and David “Tony” Galvan (Alisha); brothers Daniel Ortega (Kendra), Everett Ortega and Guillermo Ortega (Diana); sister Frances Florez (Frank); sisters-in-law, Mary Ortega and Gloria Graham and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mary came into this world on March 3, 1952, in Kansas City, MO. She attended Lillis High School with her twin sister and brother and made many lifetime friends. Mary began her career in the insurance business in 1976, she found her calling with Metzler Bros for 37 years then furthered her career with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co until present. When Mary had free time, she chose to work part-time for Jones/Macy’s for 12 years where she built her second family of friends.

Mary was a very devoted mother to her sons Chris and Tony, she participated and guided them through all school and extracurricular activities. She never complained and she always bragged about their accomplishments to her friends. Mary always stood in the background because she was very unselfish and put her family and friends needs before hers. She was taken to soon from us, God felt it was time for her to be at peace so that she could watch over her family, as selfless as she was.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the church.
