Mary Helen Valdivia Godinez, 64, of Lenexa, died on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Kansas City Hospice House. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Cesar Chavez Avenida. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to time of Mass Wednesday at the Shrine. The family requests contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House.
Mary was born on July 31, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Clementine (Garcia) Valdivia. She was a homemaker raising her family. In addition to her parents, Mary Helen was preceded in death by her baby daughter, Theresa Godinez, and grandson, Brandon Godinez. Mary’s survivors include her daughters, Joanne Castilleja and her husband, Anthony, and Christina Garcia and her husband, Danny, Jr.; son, Alberto Joe Godinez; her siblings, John Joseph Valdivia and wife, Martha, Felix Valdivia and wife, Carol, Carmen Mall and husband, Bob, Eddie Valdivia and wife, Rosina, David Valdivia and wife, Carmella, and Roseanne Hernandez and husband, Paul; 8 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren, all of Kansas City.
