

Mary was born on June 21, 1934 in Maysville, MO to Chester and Helen (Barnes) Wyckoff. She was one of 12 children including her twin brother John. Mary graduated from Maysville High School in 1952.
She moved to Kansas City, MO and began working for Central Surety and Insurance Company where she met her future husband Lewis Duane Hankins. They were married on October 2, 1954 in Richmond, MO and had been married for 71 years. They moved to Raytown, MO in 1957 where they raised 3 children.
Mary was a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed sewing, bowling and spending time with her many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She attended One Spirit United Methodist Church in Raytown, MO for over 60 years. She was active at church in UMW and their Women’s Circle and she was a member of the DAR. Mary loved to read and do word search puzzles. She and Duane moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO in 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents Chester and Helen Wyckoff, siblings; Eileen, Frank, Al, Chester (Keith), George, Lois, her twin John, David and Carolyn.
She is survived by her son Steven (Jenese) Hankins, daughters Sharon (Rod) Hennig and Julie (Bill) Wallen, 4 granddaughters who Mary and Duane helped raise, Andrea (Cody) Snow, Caitlin (Ben) Sojka, Kylie (Van) Newberry and Piper (Mark Hafter) Bold, 7 great grandchildren, Levi, Ezra, Dani, Talia, Oren, Caleb and Meirav and her siblings Marie Daniels, Everett (Linda) Wyckoff, sister-in-law Etta Mae Wyckoff and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will occur Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133).
