Mary Margaret Huffman passed away at 90 years of age in Overland Park, Kansas on May 24, 2015, of natural causes. Margaret was born in Iowa Park, Texas on February 20, 1925, to James Joseph Cowden and Ellen Magnolia May Cowden. She had two brothers and one sister. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. She was married to George Lee Huffman in 1948. Together, they devotedly raised three children – Ray, Patti and Barry. George died prematurely at age 50. Despite this tragedy, Margaret showed great courage and resolve in raising her children, while working full time. She has lived in Iowa Park, Albuquerque, Coffeyville, Hutchinson, Denver and Kansas City. Her deep religious faith supported her throughout her life, even following a debilitating stroke in 2012. Her daughter, Patti, provided daily, loving support during those difficult years. She is especially remembered by those closest to her as gentle, loving and kind; and she often provided wise guidance and support to her children and grandchildren. She maintained close ties with many long-time friends and family members. Her sense of humor was contagious and she loved to laugh, even at her 90th birthday party this past February. In earlier years, she was an avid golfer and quilt maker. She is survived by two children, Patti Trabon and Ray Huffman; four grandchildren, Michael, Timmy and Tony Trabon, and Nathaneal Huffman; and her sister, Jo Cowden. She was predeceased by her son, Barry Huffman and her brothers, Jack J. Cowden and Robert R. Cowden.
