Mary Jean’s strong family orientation began while growing up on the Bechtold family farm in Boonville, MO. She married the love of her life, Victor, in 1950 and instilled these values in her own family. After raising her nine children, she worked outside the home as a commercial insurance underwriter for Wausau Insurance Co.
While her family was the center of her life, she was a devout Catholic, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raytown, holding offices in More Friends at St. Thomas More, and singing in the choir at both churches. She enjoyed volunteering, attending Royals and Chiefs games, artistic expression, and spending time with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor F. Wasleski, Jr., son Robert, parents, and six siblings. She is survived by eight children: Jerry, Chris, Patty, Greg, Beth, Karen, Steve (Michelle), Carolyn, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, and a large extended family.
