Mary E. Marek, 86, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Saxton Woods Care Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, December 16, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mary was born on April 9, 1924 in Agency, Missouri. She was the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Pike) Hayes. Mary worked for the IRS in South Kansas City for many years. Mary was also a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Marek on January 21, 2005, two sisters, Elise Maybond and Betty Lou Johnson and brother, Thomas Eugene Hayes. She is survived by her sister Lonnie Krull of St. Joseph, Missouri, brothers Delbert Hayes of St. Joseph, Missouri and Charles Lee Hayes, Jr. of Brownsville, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
