Mary Opal McKee

Mary “Opal” McKee, 95, of Blue Springs, MO passed away July 16, 2011 at Shangri La Care Center. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery at 10am on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (3846 W. 75th St. Prairie Village, KS 66208). Opal was born on August 12, 1915 in Sullivan County, MO to Mervin & Ruth Sinclair. Opal married the love of her life, Otha, on July 2, 1941 in Independence, MO. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church for over 40 years. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Otha McKee; a son, Landis McKee; 6 brothers, Cecil, Herbert, Leman, Delbert, J.D. & Bernard Sinclair and a sister, Velma Glidewell. She is survived by a son, Gary McKee & wife, Marcia of Warrensburg, MO; a daughter, Sharon K. (McKee) Sommers & husband, Tony of Blue Springs, MO; 6 grandchildren, Emily McKee, Michael McKee, Stacy Fischer & husband, Jonathan, Toni Marie Henson & husband, Shane, Scott McKee & wife, Janet and Shannon Morse & husband, Jay as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Opal was a devoted wife and loving mother & grandmother.
