Mary Jo Park

Mary Jo Park, 83, Gladstone, MO, passed August 12, 2014 at her home. The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, August 16th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Dr, Gladstone, MO 64118; cremation. Visitation is 6-8 PM Friday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Contributions are suggested to St Charles Borromeo Parish or Mt. St. Scholastica Monastery, 801 S 8th St, Atchison, KS 66002.

Mary Jo was born November 15, 1930 to Albert B. and Marguerite (Hayes) Kocour in Atchison, KS. She moved to Kansas City in 1957 where Mary Jo and her husband, George Park, Jr. were active in St. Charles Borromeo Parish where they served as Eucharistic Ministers. Mary Jo was past-president of the parish altar society. George and Mary Jo were also very active in the Christian Family Movement and the Bishop Sullivan Center. Through their years of involvement with these groups, Mary Jo and George formed many close and long lasting friendships. Mary Jo had been employed as Social Service Director at Kendallwood Nursing Home. She was active in the Missouri Extension Club and was an avid gardener. Following retirement Mary Jo and George enjoyed extensive traveling abroad and spending winters in FL. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, George Park, Jr.; 2 sons, Dennis and Terrence Park; daughter, Maureen Park; brother, Robert Kocour; and sister, Helen Jeanne Maggard.

Survivors include her children, George (Debbie) Park III and their children, Laura, (Ray), Justin (Allison) and Kali; Kevin (Nanette) Park; and Kathy Park and her son, Nick (fiancé Emily) Park; Dennis’s son, Eric (Nicole) Park; brother, Albert “Bud” Kocour; sister, Sr. Mary Gabrielle Kocour, O.S.B.; and 3 great grandchildren, Samantha, Eric, Jr., and Cooper.
