Mary married Jerry Roberts in 1945. They moved to Kansas City in 1947, a city she loved and lived in for the rest of her life.
During World War II Mary headed up the payroll department at Camp Crowder in Neosho. After marriage her chosen profession was wife and mother and she was a homemaker for many years. Mary and Jerry eventually founded Southern Services, an ice supply business that served the greater Kansas City area. They managed that business through the 1970’s and 80’s. Mary was a member of the Raytown Soroptimists during that time. She retired in the late 1990s.
Mary was committed to her family and enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings. She had a loving spirit and a quick wit that earned the affection of her family as well as her many friends and acquaintances. Her presence in our lives will be profoundly missed.
Mary is survived by her brother, Jack Cox; her son, Duane Roberts; her daughter, Ramona Roberts; 4 grandchildren, Katie, Cole, Evan, and Justin; her niece Sandra Hargrave; and her nephew Steve Scott.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mary’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
