Matt was born on September 22, 1970, in Alton, Illinois, and was an unconventional guy. He kept those around him in laughter with his sarcasm and tell-it-like-it-is humor. He knew a little about a lot, which was exhibited by the numerous occupations in which he worked. At one time he studied to be an OR technician, worked as a dental technician making false teeth (he should have made some for himself!), was a commercial painter, worked with concrete, drove for Amazon, and his last job, which was locating services. He also had a mind like a steel trap – he rarely forgot anything.
He left behind his wife, Amanda; sons, Christopher Scholl and Alexander Voorhees; daughters, Hayley Allwood, Alyssa Stern, Ariel Enfield; parents, Raymond and Shirley Voorhees; brother, Joshua Voorhees; and two sisters, Stephanie Brewer and Rebecca Bruce; too many other family members to list; and a garage stuffed full of things apparently too important to get rid of.
Because he made his wishes well-known that he did not want the formality of a conventional service, The family has chosen to honor his life with a private Celebration of Life for immediate family on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 AM, followed by a time for family and friends to gather from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. These event will take place at: The Morning Grange, located at 23910 West 191st Street, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083.
