She received her bachelor's degree from Park University, Parkville, MO and attended graduate school at Washington University, St. Louis. Her lifelong career was as a social worker, and her skills and concern touched many areas and clients. In the Kansas City area she worked at Jewish Family and Children's Service, Menorah Hospital, Catholic Charities, and Family and Children's Services. Maxine married the love of her life, Francis J. (Bud) Logghe, on June 16, 1947, and they shared 29 years filled with companionship, laughter, joy, and facing life's challenges together. Upon her retirement, Maxine enthusiastically joined the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary volunteers and was recognized for 4,000 hours of service. As a life-long bridge player, she spent many happy hours with friends shuffling cards and improving her strategy. Maxine was skilled with her hands, and her family and friends received many beautiful gifts of needlework and knitting over the years. She was an avid collector of Hummel figurines and particularly loved sharing them with her granddaughters when they would visit. Maxine was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and spent every football season following them on television. She shared her life with a canine companion from the time she was a girl. A quirky cast of dogs was an important part of her life as was her concern for animal welfare. Her friends and family also remember that Maxine loved to shop, not only for herself, but for others, who were frequent recipients of her efforts. Her personal passion was for shoes and she always browsed the shoe departments and catalogues. Her spiritual home was at St. Thomas More Parish in her later years, where she found spiritual strength and social companionship. Maxine's first priority was always her family. Her love, support, concern and devotion to her family were unconditional and a constant presence in their lives. She extended this same love and support to her closest friends, and she will always be remembered and loved for her generous ways. Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 29 years, Francis J. (Bud) Logghe and her parents, Alma and Elmer Renner. She is survived by her daughter Susan Logghe Grimes (Mrs. Grant) son-in-law, Grant A. Grimes; granddaughter, Kristen Grimes Ott (Mrs. David), Lindsey Blaine Grimes; two great-grandsons, Grant and Jacob Ott; and many loving friends.
