Melieda "Tillie" Roberta McGowen

Melieda "Tillie" Roberta McGowen, age 86, of Harrisonville, MO. passed away January 28th at Shawnee Gardens in Shawnee, KS. "Tillie" was born in Cassville, MO to Robert and Maude Mills. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald S. McGowen of 43 years, her brother Robert J. Mills and sister Brenda S. Hurd.

Tillie was a Missourian and a farm girl at heart. Things that brought her joy were, traveling, painting, crafting, gardening, photography, cooking, rodeos, and slot machines. To bring a huge smile to her face, put kids or animals in front of her. She was never a complainer, always gracious and polite to everyone around her, even until the very end. She was a very independent and strong woman, and was loved by many.

She touched so many lives in her 86 years, cannot put into words how much she meant to us all. Especially to three of her nieces, sisters that deemed it necessary and were blessed with the honor of solely caring for Aunt Tillie in her latter days, until she laid down for her eternal rest with Jesus. Bobbi Maybell, Myra Sullinger and Janice Weaver, took great pride in caring for their aunt and will cherish every moment, keeping her lively, fun-loving memory in their hearts forever more.

Tillie is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and close friends who adored her.

She will be greatly missed.

Services will be at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, January 31st, Visitation 1:00 P.M., Funeral Service 2:00 P.M., Graveside Service following the funeral.
