She married the late David Enrique Amado-Ledo M.D. on December 17, 1948 and assisted him with his medical practice over the years. After much hardship she arrived in the United States in 1966 and became a naturalized citizen in 1971.She was always highly dedicated to rearing her two children, daughter Mercy and son Henry, supporting and encouraging them in higher learning and eventual medical careers. Blessed with an even temperament and a kind nature, she was always available to offer a listening ear and extend wise advice in adverse circumstances. She was very sociable and willing to help others, with a sweet disposition and unassuming modesty about her own accomplishments. In brief, she was much loved by all who have known her.She was preceded in death by her husband Enrique, her mother Mercedes, and her father Aurelio, as well as her brother Aurelito who died in his youth. Her survivors are her daughter Mercedes C. Amado M.D., pediatric allergist in Kansas City, and her son Henry Amado M.D., psychiatrist in San Diego. Requiescat in pace; que en paz descanse; may she rest in everlasting peace.

Dear Mercy

Roxann and I were so saddened to hear of the loss of your mother. I only met her a few times but you spoke of her often; and, I felt I knew her well. She was such a gracious lady. I know you will miss her terribly.
"Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Time heals. Right now you just concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other. Soon the hurt will subside and you will remember the good times. We will keep you in our prayers.
