Michael was preceded in death by his father, Gary R. Collins. He is lovingly survived by his mother, Nancy K. Collins; his sister, Kelly McCannon, and her husband, Tom; Marissa, Joe, and Cassidy Marie Jones; Colin Paris and Madalynn McCannon; his brother, Darin Collins, and his wife, Kelly; and Knox and Ryder Collins.
Michael was a thoughtful man who lived with curiosity, purpose, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple moments. He loved hunting, camping, reading, studying history, going to the movies, and—most of all—spending time with his family. Those who knew him will remember his intelligence, kindness, and the steady presence he brought to the lives around him. He also had a quick wit and a way of making everyone around him laugh.
Among his proud accomplishments, Michael earned the rank of Eagle Scout and completed both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. He loved learning, asked insightful questions, and valued knowledge, meaningful conversation, and new perspectives.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Michael’s life through services at Lee’s Summit Christian Church on Saturday, May 16th at 3:00.
Michael will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
