Michael Alan Copeland

He was born October 28, 1945, in Kansas City, KS, the son of Garlin James Copeland and Shirlie Maxine (Madison) Copeland.

Mike graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School, and attended the University of Kansas. He was a natural salesman, and worked in sales and management his entire career. Mike achieved many sales awards and was loved and respected by his colleagues and peers.

Playing golf with his friends was one of Mike’s favorite ways to spend a day. He started his golf journey as a caddy, and once caddied for a young Tom Watson (so he told us). He was good with tools, as he came from a family of home builders. He could often be found on the lake in his boat, fishing for hours. Regularly waking up way earlier than everyone so he could hit the shoreline fishing. In recent years, he took great joy in watching the Royals win a World Series, the Chiefs win a Super Bowl, and his Jayhawks win a national championship in basketball. Mike was a true dog lover, rescuing and fostering countless dogs, as well as donating his time at Furry Kids Refuge. But most important in his life was his family. With his wife of almost 55 years, Carol (Wilson) Copeland, they took great pride in their two children, Chris and Ashley, who blessed Mike and Carol with five grandchildren whom they adore.

If you were lucky enough to know Mike, you seldom saw him without a smile and telling a good story or joke.

He was preceded in death by his parents Garlin and Shirlie Copeland.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carol Copeland; son, Christopher (Tia) Copeland; daughter Ashley (Patrick) Sneed; grandchildren: Avery and Evan Copeland; Savannah, Josie and Carter Sneed; brother Kendall Copeland; nieces and nephews: Lori Epp; Kellie Thomlison; Andrew Copeland; Robert Copeland.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, September 29th, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the McGilley State Line Chapel, Kansas City, MO.
