

Mike was born September 30, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to Ira Chase, Jr. and Naomi Haggarty. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1961, where he lettered in cross country and was a member of the Juntos fraternity. He married his grade school sweetheart, Beverly J. Smith, in 1964, and lived a majority of his life in the Kansas City area, and Denver, CO. Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; coaching little league baseball, participating in school projects, and supporting and celebrating all of his children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors and accomplishments.
He worked as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst, and always kept up with modern technology. He was an avid bowler, golfer, and enjoyed playing cards, socializing with friends, traveling, and keeping a keen eye on the weather.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Craig Douglas, his parents, and half-brother. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; Beverly, his children: Chris (Maria), Lisa, Scott (Andrea), and his grandchildren: A.J., Connor, Annabelle, Luke, Kendyl, and Ella.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 25, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Michael J. Haggarty to the American Lung Association.
