

Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 8, 2026, followed by the Funeral Mass at 4:00 P.M. at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64112. An Irish wake will follow from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Kelly’s Westport Inn.
Michael, one of nine siblings, grew up across the street from Visitation School, where he attended grade school, and later graduated from Hogan High School.
A plumber by trade, Michael owned and operated his own plumbing company for many years, faithfully serving customers throughout the Kansas City area. His strong work ethic and dedication to his craft were well known and deeply appreciated by those who relied on his services.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darleen Henninger, and his children, Charlie Henninger and Sally Henninger. He is survived by his son, Michael Henninger; his daughters, Lauren (Adam) Welsh and Stacy Henninger; and his cherished grandchildren, John, Lily, Joseph, Graham, and Harper.
Michael was known for his strong presence, candid nature, and unmistakable personality. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and stories shared among friends and family often reflect the moments that made him so memorable. Later in life, he developed a passion for photography, earning awards for his work, with one of his photographs featured on the banner proudly displayed during the Plaza Duck Derby.
Michael will be laid to rest beside his wife, Darleen, in a private family burial.
