

Michael Wayne Lampton, age 73, of Leawood, Kanas, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. He was a good man of boundless energy and positivity. He loved life and will be greatly missed by many.
Mike was born on December 18, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Raytown, Missouri. Mike attended Raytown South High School, graduating in 1971. He participated in sports and clubs and was class president. His education continued at the University of Missouri. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1975. He is a forever Tiger.
After collage, Mike established an early career in sales. He was a people person and enjoyed the sales process which requires self-discipline to get the process to work. Mike eventually owned his own office products and printing supplies business, helping businesses meet critical needs.
Mike had many hobbies and pastimes that he thoroughly enjoyed. At the top of the list was watching his son and two grandsons play baseball. He also loved traveling, camping, bike riding, gardening, cooking and snow skiing. Material for all of his funny stories came from living a good life. He also gave back to community through food rescue and participating in working with dogs with medical issues and dog sitting.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his much loved son, Taylor (Annie) and his cherished grandsons, Penn, Bo and Hart. He was predeceased by his parents, Cewood and Lynn Lampton and his brother Gary. He greatly loved the many extended family members who taught him about leading a good, strong life.
A Celebration of Mike's life and a remembrance service will be on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 12:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
We will honor Mike's life every day. We will all continue the stories and he will live in our wonderful memories. Those experiences made Mike smile and the stories make us smile as well. He is very much loved.
