

Michael Wiltanger died on September 16, 2011, shortly after noon at St. Luke's Hospital. Mike was born on January 2, 1939 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, and, at 18, he joined the Navy. After his service in the Navy, he studied Electrical Engineering at Penn State, earning a Bachelor's Degree in 1966. Mike married Darlene Reidy, also from Oil City, in April 1964. They had three children together, Michael Joseph, Cassandra Ann, and Matthew Joseph. Mr. Wiltanger is survived by his wife, Darlene, his daughter, Cassandra Woolworth, and her three children, Brandon, 12, Parker, 10 and Palmer, 7, and his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Laura Wiltanger, their three children, Catherine, 12, Eleanor, 9 and Joseph, 6. Michael Joseph preceded his father in death in 1995. Mike Wiltanger spent 35 years employed as an electrical engineer at Black & Veatch, retiring from full-time work in 2009. After this retirement, Mike continued part-time work for Black & Veatch, mentoring engineers, but devoted the bulk of his time to playing with and raising his grandchildren. He will be very missed. Memorial service will be held at Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September. 21, with Mass to follow on Thursday, September 22, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorial contributions go towards Harvesters - The Community Food Network, P.O.
