Michele Janchar of Kansas City, Missouri, age 74, passed away February 14, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Michele is now at peace with some of her favorite people ( late Mother, Hulda Johnson; Father, Leo Fey; Sister Janis, and Aunt Marjorie Hensley) and is watching over us from above.
Michele had many loves in her life! She was always rescuing animals and bringing them home or finding their owners. She had a passion and talent for all things cooking. She loved working in her garden and planning for the next season of fresh herbs and vegetables. Michele had a great sense of humor and would always come back from vacations with the funniest stories and experiences. She was always so sharp; loving to read, do crossword puzzles, and word games!
Of all the loves in her life, her greatest love of all was people. She never met a stranger and would engage in conversation with anyone and everyone! Ever curious and wanting to know more, if she had a question, you had better have an answer!
Michele is survived by her husband of 25 years, best friend, sous chef, and partner in crime, James (Jim); her two daughters, Micaela (Douglas Peterson) and Laura (Armando Diaz), granddaughter Harper Shay, Aunt Julia Wingate, and cousin Mark Hensely (Barbara).
A visitation will be held on February 27, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the same venue from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The committal will occur at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, also located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, at 12:00 pm. A reception will follow the committal in the funeral home.
