Mildred E. Hodkins

Mildred Ellen Hodkins, 92, Kansas City North, passed away June 9, 2015 at NorthCare Hospice House. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, June 12th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 13th at the Center Grove Cemetery, near Newtown, MO. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to NorthCare Hospice.

Mildred was born August 20, 1922 to Edgar and Ella (Day) Judd in Sullivan County, MO at the family farm southeast of Newtown. She graduated from Milan High School in 1939 and Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in 1943. Mildred moved to Kansas City in September of 1944. She married Lee Hodkins on July 14, 1945. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1993. Mildred taught school for two years-one year at her Center Grove home school and one at Nauvoo, IL. She then was employed at T.V. Guide Magazine for 23 years retiring in 1982. Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Peggy Manning and husband, Gary; and Nancy Halferty; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
