Mildred Alice Lujin, 102, of Raytown, MO, passed away peacefully on January 19th at Bickford Assisted Living in Raytown. Mildred was born in Maple Hill, KS to Myron and Dollie Emery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harold Hurst, her sister, Maxine, and her husband, Dick Lujin.
Mildred grew up in Kansas, graduating from Wellington High School in 1934. She was an accomplished vio- linist, and taught lessons in her younger years. She moved to Raytown and began working for Sears in 1959 as a timekeeper, retiring after 30 years of service. While there, she met Dick Lujin, whom she married in 1981. Mildred— “Millie” or “Auntie Alice” to her friends and loved ones— was a longstanding member of Raytown Christian Church. She enjoyed taking road trips and was a diligent journal keeper. She showered her loved ones with cards and handwritten letters for birthdays and holidays. Mildred’s happy spirit, love of life, positive out- look, and generosity were a blessing to everyone who knew her.
Mildred is survived by a niece, Debra (Kelley) Lowery, a great niece, Nichole (Mike) Hosek, stepchildren Art (Kathy) Lujin, Dick (Barbara) Lujin, grandchildren Keely (David) Groves, Pat (Lisa) Lujin, Susie Caruso (Mike) Mussett, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Visitation Friday, January 25th, 11:00 A.M. Funeral Friday, January 25th, 12:00 P.M. Contributions can be made to Raytown Christian Church.
