Sidney and her family would like to start by saying how much they appreciate your presence here today. We know that many of you were great friends of Mitch and Sidney and many more of you were like family. We all lost someone very dear to us.
Mitch was always very analytical and methodical in his thinking, sometimes to the point of exasperating all in attendance. Does anyone else remember how he used his quick wit without thought?
Of course, he also had a serious and ornery side. I remember hearing the story of when Mitch and Sidney were dating. She and the kids came up to Kansas City for the weekend and decided to go out on the Steamboat that used to go up and down the Missouri river. With a serious look he told Sidney that the weather was really nice and maybe they should take their fishing poles and do some fishing. She said, "that sounds like fun". He said to call the Steamboat and make sure it was okay. While she went into the other room to call, he told the kids fishing wasn't allowed on the steamboat. When Sidney came out of the other room she said fishing wasn't allowed and Mitch and the kids looked at each other and just started laughing. We will miss his strength and sense of humor.
Mitchell Richard Niemann was born to Harold and Janiece Niemann October 3, 1956, he graduated from North Kansas City High School, and attended UMKC as well as DeVry. He worked for the past several years for Proctor and Gamble, Kansas City, Kansas and celebrated his 25th anniversary this past April 1st. He worked in the surfactant department, and truly enjoyed and appreciated his P&G friends. His plan was to retire next year and move to Table Rock Lake and enjoy the place that he spent most of his vacations during the last several years. They had already purchased a home down on Table Rock Lake and had developed a relationship with wonderful friends and neighbors of Eagle Point Estates. He loved to fish, boat and was looking forward to traveling. Mitch was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harold and Janiece Niemann.
Mitch leaves behind his wife, Sidney of the home; daughter, Amy Ray of Lowell, Arkansas; son, Jeff Ray of Augusta, Kansas; and also his golf cart buddy, Cody the wonder dog and Granddog Lucy who will miss him deeply. His brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Patty Niemann of Plattsburg, Missouri; Clayton and Abby Niemann, Jefferson City, Missouri; Christie and Mario Velasquez, Kansas City, Missouri; Angie and Andy Gutierrez, Kansas City, Missouri; and many great nieces and nephews.
Thanks you again for coming to celebrate his life with us today. We know that he would be pleased to see so many friends and family here. We hope that Mitch will live on in your thoughts, in your memories, and in your conversations for many years to come. He would want to be remembered happily by you, as he will be by Sidney and his family.
