Mitch arrived ten days late and weighed a mere 6.2 pounds, but he quickly made his presence known with his loud cries and an insatiable need to be held or rocked gently on the dryer to drift off to sleep. Once past those early days, he blossomed into an extraordinarily joyful and charismatic kid, known for his beaming smile and playful spirit. As a young boy, his fascination with trucks and cars kept his father and grandfather, Allan, constantly engaged. This enthusiasm for activity translated into a love for sports; he excelled in soccer, and football, showcasing a fierce competitive streak that made losing difficult for him. As he entered high school he fell in love with lacrosse where he traveled often with his brothers to tournaments with the Blue Lions throughout the US.
Mitch's artistic talent emerged early on, and he embraced his creativity through drawing, patina art, music, and culinary pursuits. Self-taught in guitar, he shared his love for music with others. Mitch loved attending concerts with his mom and playing guitar with his dad. His passion for cooking was remarkable; he delighted in crafting elaborate dishes with only the finest ingredients, expressing his affection for family and friends through the meals he prepared. Mitch also loved to travel including a mission trip to Uganda with his mom when he was 15. The last few years, Mitch and his dad cooked together on his big green egg most every Saturday while watching sports together.
An avid sports fan, Mitch loyally cheered for his beloved Kansas City Royals, the Chiefs, the Chicago Black Hawks and all college basketball. His passionate personality was unmistakable; those who knew him understood exactly where he stood on any topic. His adored golden doodle, Luka, was a steadfast companion during the latter years of Mitch's life.
For the past 13 years, Mitch faced mental health challenges, bravely battling his internal struggles with determination and hope for a brighter future. Despite these difficulties, he remained a magnetic person, effortlessly connecting with others and sharing in their interests. As the eldest of three brothers, Mitch was undoubtedly the leader, combining coolness, intelligence, and a multitude of interests that made knowing him a uniquely enriching experience.
