Morris L. Netherton

MORRIS L. NETHERTOM

Morris Netherton, 80, Gladstone passed away November 14th, 2012 at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City. He was born August 15th, 1932 in Jameson, Missouri, the son of Walter and Naomi (Truitt) Netherton.

He attended grade and high school in Jameson, Missouri, Trenton Jr. College, Trenton, Missouri and Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri. Morris was an Air Force Reservist. Morris started his working career as an Elementary school teacher at Linkville, Missouri and coached basketball. He moved on to Burd & Fletcher, folding paper carton company where he started as an Estimator for cartons and worked his way up to Vice President of Sales. After 45 years, Morris retired in 2000. He was an avid Chiefs fan and golfer. His favorite pass time was watching all sports activities in person, especially his children and grandchildren.

Morris accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Northside Christian Church of Christ where he served as an Elder in addition to other capacities at the Church. He married his wife, Osta Ann Netherton in 1952 and had three children, Mike Netherton (Sherry) Liberty, MO, Randy Netherton, Denver, Colorado, and Sherri Perry (Jim) Kansas City, MO. Morris had three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Franklin Netherton and great granddaughter, Heaven Michelle Netherton.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 17th at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivian Rd, Kansas City, MO at 7:00pm. Visitation preceding funeral 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Burial will be November 19th at Mount Moriah Terrace Park at 11:00am. Morris requested contributions be made to the Northcare Hospice House, North Kansas City.

Ann and Family,
I was shocked to hear that Morris had passed away. (He was always Mr. Netherton to me.) My 6th grade teacher. So sorry that I was unable to pay my respect in person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
